Medicaid

The Nebraska Medicaid program focuses on preventive care and access to healthcare for all people in our community, including some of the most vulnerable populations.

Am I eligible for the Nebraska Medicaid program?

You may be eligible if you are:
  • An individual 18 years of age or younger
  • A pregnant woman
  • A parent or caretaker
  • A former foster care youth

What is CHIP?

The Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, is an expansion of Medicaid as healthcare coverage for qualified children who are without other health insurance and who do not qualify for Medicaid. It provides the same services covered under Medicaid in Nebraska.

What Services Can I Get Under Medicaid?

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Bluestem Health participates in Nebraska’s Medicaid Program. There are a variety of health services we can provide for our patients:
  • Dental Services such as cleaning of teeth, fillings, and X-rays.
  • Complete Health Checkup for individuals age 20 and younger, including complete physical examination; immunizations; necessary lab tests; health education; hearing checkups; well-baby, well-child, as well as Head Start, school, and sports physicals.
  • Laboratory and X-ray Tests
  • Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services for Child, Adolescent, and Adults
  • Screening Mammogram

Patient Support Services

Bluestem Health provides our patients with resources and community events far beyond our typical healthcare services. Our Outreach team works with you to find additional community services, including assistance in applying for resources such as Medicare, SNAP, ADC, and Open Enrollment through the Health Insurance Exchange. A partnership with Legal Aid of Nebraska connects patients with legal assistance.

Convenient Access to Care

There are four locations in Lincoln where our patients can access the care they need and use their Medicare insurance.

  • Medical / Dental: Main Clinic, 1021 N. 27th St.
  • Medical: Thompson Clinic, 2222 S. 16th St.
  • Medical: Kreshel Clinic, 3100 N. 14th St.
  • Medical: Pediatric Clinic at Health 360, 2301 O St.

To serve Lincoln’s population, we also employ a staff of interpreters who provide in-person interpretation services rather than communicating over the phone, which can dramatically improve a patient’s experience during their healthcare visit. In addition to English, our interpreters are fluent in Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish, Karen, Burmese, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language.
