Marketplace Healthcare Insurance

The Healthcare Marketplace is a place to enroll in marketplace health insurance where you can apply for private insurance, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

In the U.S., every person must have minimum health coverage or pay a fee, therefore the marketplace was created to make finding and purchasing insurance easier and at times, more affordable. All plans offer the same essential benefits while at the same time provide health coverage options that fit specific budgets and needs. Essential health benefits include doctor visits, preventive care, hospitalization, prescriptions, and more. Before deciding on a plan, you can compare based on price, benefits, quality, and other features important to you.

Open Enrollment Period is from November 1 – December 15.
You can get or change health coverage outside of the enrollment period if you qualify for:
  • A Special Enrollment Period due to a life change
    • Losing health coverage
    • Moving
    • Getting married
    • Having a baby, or adopting a child
  • Medicaid, CHIP, or a new Special Enrollment Period based on income
    • Individuals, families and children with certain incomes may qualify for Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or health insurance through the Marketplace. If eligible based on estimated household income, you can apply any time.

Visit the healthcare.gov screening website to see if you qualify, or to apply. For additional assistance, call 402-476-1455 and ask for Patient Support Services.
