Patient Support Services at Bluestem Health in Lincoln, Nebraska offers a “one-stop shop” for resources that our patients need. Families and individuals in the community seeking to become Bluestem Health patients can utilize our patient support services without the need to travel to multiple places. Our knowledgeable team can assist with applying for the Sliding Fee Discount Program, enrolling in the Health Insurance Marketplace or in Medicaid, or accessing Economic or General Assistance programs. From the beginning stages of the application process through completion, our Patient Support Services team works closely with patients to help them understand what is required from each program. Patients follow-up with the team so that their case runs smoothly and if they need help with any verification requests or other details along the way.
Having a team dedicated to enrollment assistance benefits both the patients themselves and Bluestem Health. If patients can afford to see a provider at the clinic at a discounted rate, they will be less likely to incur more costly services at an Emergency Room.
For many people whose native language is not English, communicating health concerns can be challenging. We understand the need for effective communication when it comes to patients’ access to healthcare in their native language and we are here to help with interpreters who speak a variety of world languages.

The Healthcare Marketplace is a place where you can apply for private insurance, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). At Bluestem Health we are happy to assist our patients with questions and applying for insurance through the Healthcare Marketplace.
Aid to Dependent Children (ADC) is a Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) cash assistance program for low income families with children. ADC is funded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Bluestem Health participates in Nebraska’s Medicaid Program. We offer a variety of health services and we are happy to serve Medicaid patients.
There are several Medicare health insurance options. Our patient support specialists at Bluestem Health can answer any Medicare questions that you may have. We want you to know that we value our Medicare patients and we have six locations for your convenience. All of our locations accept Medicare insurance.
At Bluestem Health, we welcome all patients, including those with Medicare for insurance and those insured through Nebraska’s Medicaid Program. Our commitment is to provide you with easily accessible, high-quality, integrated health services when and where you need them.
Our patient support team is here to help patients access resources to promote health and wellness that they may not know about or have access to, like SNAP. SNAP assistance offers supplemental assistance for nutrition to individuals with low-income and families going through difficult financial times.
The providers at Bluestem Health often refer patients who are uninsured or without prescription coverage to the Support Services Team to discuss the Medication Access Program (MAP) when they see a patient who can’t afford their medications.
The most common reason people contact Support Services at Bluestem Health is because they want to know if they can get assistance paying for their healthcare or a discount in the services offered at Bluestem Health. Many people are surprised to find that they can qualify for assistance. The sliding fee discount can be applied to co-pays, deductibles not met, share-of-cost amounts, co-insurance, and services not covered by a patient’s plan.
