We are committed to providing accessible and affordable healthcare coverage to the community of Lincoln, Nebraska and Lancaster County. Whether you’re looking for insurance options, financial assistance, or support services, we’re here to help. Learn about the different programs and services we offer to ensure you and your family get the care you need.
We accept all forms of insurance, including Nebraska Medicaid and Medicare, ensuring that you have access to the care you need, regardless of your insurance provider.
Sliding Fee Discount Program
For those who may not have insurance or need additional financial support, we offer a sliding fee discount program. This program is designed to make healthcare affordable based on your income and family size, ensuring that everyone can access the services they require without financial strain.
Our dedicated support team focuses on helping you navigate and enroll in our assistance programs. Check out this brief overview of the key programs we can help you access:
Medicaid
Medicaid is a government program providing health coverage to low-income individuals and families. This program is funded jointly by federal and state governments for services including hospital visits, doctor appointments, long-term care, and sometimes dental and vision care. Medicaid eligibility and benefits vary by state, but the program’s core mission is to ensure those with limited resources can access necessary medical services.
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)
SNAP helps low-income individuals and families purchase food through monthly benefits provided via an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Administered by the USDA, this program aims to improve food security and nutrition. Eligibility is based on factors like income and household size, making it easier for those in need to maintain a healthy diet.
TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
The Aid to Dependent Children (ADC) program aims to help families meet basic needs and improve child welfare. In 1996, ADC was replaced by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program as part of welfare reform legislation.
TANF provides financial assistance and support services to low-income families with children. It encourages self-sufficiency through cash benefits and services like job training and childcare. Each state has its own eligibility requirements and time limits, but the program’s primary goal is to support families in achieving long-term stability.
Child Care Support
The Child Care Support program assists low-income families with childcare costs, making it easier for parents to work or attend school. This program provides financial aid to cover a portion of childcare expenses, promoting economic stability while ensuring quality care for children. Eligibility and benefits vary by state, but the focus remains on helping families balance work and child-rearing responsibilities.
Open Enrollment through the Health Insurance Exchange
Open Enrollment is a specific period each year when individuals and families can enroll in or switch health insurance plans through state or federal Health Insurance Exchanges, established under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). During this time, you can compare plans, check for eligibility for subsidies, and make changes to your coverage without facing penalties. Outside of Open Enrollment, you can only make changes due to qualifying life events, such as marriage, birth, or loss of other coverage.
At Bluestem Health, our team is dedicated to helping you navigate these programs and find the support that best fits your needs. For assistance or more information on enrolling in these programs, please reach out to us. We’re here to help you access the care and support you need for a healthier, more secure future.
Open enrollment is a crucial time for individuals seeking health coverage, whether through the Marketplace or Medicare.
Bluestem Health aims to empower individuals to seek help, encourage resilience, and achieve better mental health and behavioral health outcomes.
At Bluestem Health, pediatric care isn’t just a service; it’s a commitment to nurturing the health of every child. From routine check-ups to specialized care, our clinics offer a comprehensive range of services designed to support families.
