Help us provide care for the most vulnerable in our community

Your donation supports Bluestem Health programs that address a few of the biggest needs in our city: dental care for patients on Medicaid and diabetes education for our patients with prediabetes and diabetes.  Many of the patients receiving these services have extremely limited, or otherwise cost-prohibitive, access to the care they need. Here’s why your support matters:

  • 82% of our dental patients are Uninsured or on Medicaid
  • Our no-cost Diabetes Education programs help patients gain the necessary skills and confidence to manage their condition successfully.

When you donate to Bluestem Health between now and May 28, you’re helping us continue to offer life-changing support.

Bio

Maxine Turvey, APRN-FNP, takes a collaborative approach to care, encouraging patients to take an active role in their health. “I want my patients to feel like we’re a team,” she says. Her hands-on, education-focused style helps build trust and ensures patients feel confident in the decisions they make about their care.

Before joining Bluestem Health, Maxine spent over seven years in emergency medicine. She saw firsthand how limited access to primary care often leads to preventable emergency room visits. That experience fuels her commitment to making healthcare more accessible and proactive. “Bluestem Health is a place where individuals—regardless of insurance—can get the care they need before their conditions escalate.”

Maxine focuses on building strong relationships with her patients by involving them in every step of the decision-making process. “I often advise patients to advocate for themselves,” she says. “I want them to feel comfortable with the decisions we’re making as a team.”

Outside the clinic, Maxine enjoys DIY projects—her favorite form of stress therapy—and spending time with her partner and children, and their two lively dogs.
