Nebraska Medicaid helps eligible children, pregnant women, parents and caretakers, former foster care youth, and adults with limited income get access to health care. Bluestem Health accepts Nebraska Medicaid and helps patients understand coverage options, renewal notices, and available support.
Nebraska is now enforcing work requirements (80 hours of qualifying activities per month) for some adults enrolled in Medicaid expansion, also called Heritage Health Adult.
These requirements apply to adults ages 19 to 64 who are enrolled in Medicaid expansion and do not qualify for an exemption, such as pregnant individuals (or up to 12 months postpartum) or those with a medical condition preventing you from working.
You can meet work requirements if you earn $580 in a calendar month, equal to 80 hours worked at the current federal minimum wage. Qualifying work activities can also include:
The Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, is an expansion of Medicaid as healthcare coverage for qualified children who are without other health insurance and who do not qualify for Medicaid. It provides the same services covered under Medicaid in Nebraska.
Out Outreach team connects patients with resources that support their health and daily life. They can help you apply for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, ADC, and health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. We can also help you learn about the Sliding Fee Discount Program. This program may help reduce the cost of care for eligible patients, including those who recently lost Medicaid coverage.
Through our partnership with Legal Aid of Nebraska, patients may also be connected with legal assistance when additional support is needed.
Patients can access care at four Bluestem Health locations in Lincoln and use their Medicaid coverage.
To serve Lincoln’s population, we also employ a staff of interpreters who provide in-person interpretation services rather than communicating over the phone, which can dramatically improve a patient’s experience during their healthcare visit. In addition to English, our interpreters are fluent in Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish, Karen, Burmese, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language.
Bluestem Health is here to help you with your Medicaid questions and to connect you with a provider that will give you the best possible care. Connect with us at (402) 476-1455.
