Life has a way of handing us moments that feel heavy—stress that lingers, emotions that are hard to sort through, or challenges that don’t seem to ease with time. When those feelings show up day after day, it may be a sign that additional support could help. At Bluestem Health in Lincoln, Nebraska, our behavioral health professionals are here to listen and offer support as you work toward feeling more like yourself again.

Mental Health and Why It Matters

Behavioral health reflects how we think, feel, and cope with everyday life. Just as caring for your physical health is important, taking care of your mental health matters just as much. Mental well-being affects everything, from your emotions and relationships to your decision-making, overall well-being, and even your appetite. And like physical health, your mental health can change over time, often influenced by work, family responsibilities, life transitions, or ongoing health conditions.

Talking with your primary care doctor about what you’re experiencing is a great first step. They can help you determine whether meeting with a behavioral health professional may be helpful, and in some cases, an important part of your care. Bluestem Health’s primary care doctors work closely with our behavioral health therapists to ensure you receive the coordinated care you need, both mentally and physically.

Our Mental Health Services

We take a whole-person approach when it comes to your well-being. You may think: “I don’t like the way I’m feeling every day.” Acknowledging that feeling is an important first step. Our trusted therapists are here to guide, support, and provide you with the tools you need to move forward.

Here are some of the conditions and ways we help individuals manage them.

Anxiety and Depression

Worry, sadness, or feeling overwhelmed with everyday life can be difficult to handle alone. We work with you to better understand what you’re experiencing and find tools that support emotional balance and well-being.

Stress Management and Life Transitions

Life changes can feel unmanageable. Whether you’re navigating work stress, family dynamics, or aging, our therapists are here to help you learn healthy ways to cope and move forward with confidence.

Trauma or PTSD

Past experiences can stay with us longer than we expect. Our trauma-informed care offers a safe, supportive space to process what you’ve been through and focus on healing in a way that feels right for you.

Support for Chronic Conditions

Living with a long-term health condition affects both your body and overall well-being. We help address the emotional and mental challenges that often come with chronic illness, so you feel supported in every part of your care.

Addiction or Substance Use

Recovery looks different for everyone. We provide compassionate, judgment-free support that meets you where you are and helps you work toward healthier choices and lasting wellness.

Counseling for Individuals, Couples, or Families

Whether you’re working through personal challenges or relationship concerns, counseling can help improve communication, strengthen connections, and support growth for you and your loved ones.

Grief or Loss

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline; it can last weeks, months, and years. We offer compassionate support as you process loss, honor your feelings, and find your way forward, one day at a time.

The Lincoln community offers our therapists opportunities to approach every relationship with respect and openness, recognizing that each person’s background and experiences shape how they view health and healing. By listening closely and honoring cultural values, we create a safe, welcoming space where individuals and families feel seen, heard, and supported.

Integrative Approach to Care

By working closely with other medical providers at Bluestem Health, our therapists take an integrated approach to care. Communicating and working as a team helps make sure each patient feels supported and understood through all aspects of their healing.

Helping our patients feel comfortable and at ease when speaking with one of our therapists is an important first step in their care. Often, it is our primary care providers who identify, through conversation during an appointment, that involving a member of our behavioral health team may be beneficial. When appropriate, we can coordinate that first meeting between the patient and therapist during the same visit. Knowing their providers are working together to support their care often brings reassurance and relief.

Behavioral concerns can affect individuals at every stage of life, from children and teens to adults and seniors. It’s never too early, or too late, to ask for help. Talk with one of our primary care providers about your concerns. Bluestem Health Behavioral Health is here to offer guidance, compassion, and trusted care as you move forward.
