Our CEO’s Vision for Transformative Growth

Bluestem Health has the groundwork for success thanks to our CEO’s vision for transformative growth and strategic decisions.

Brad Meyer, CEO, Bluestem Health

Brad Meyer’s tenure as CEO in September 2014 marked a critical moment for our organization. With a single location, 85 dedicated employees, 9,300 patients, and a budget of $7.2 million, Bluestem Health had the groundwork for success. The path forward, however, required strategic decisions and our CEO’s vision for transformative growth to propel us to a new level.

A New Era Of Growth

Under Brad’s stewardship, we have flourished. Today, we have four clinics – and an administrative office – serving over 22,000 patients with a team of 180 dedicated professionals. We’ve also grown financially; in 2023, we generated over $24 million in revenue. The revenue growth isn’t just about the bottom line, according to Brad, “We’ve significantly reduced our dependence on federal and state grants, which now only constitute 7% of our revenue.”

Brad’s vision extends beyond numbers; it encompasses a commitment to providing value-based services accessible to all. Through strategic initiatives like nurse-led cultural centers, partnerships with hospitals, and free diabetic education, we’re able to provide services that positively impact the community of Lincoln. “We have certified diabetic educators who meet with our patients, liaisons who connect with the hospital case managers and discharge planners, a nurse who works with cultural centers, and more – all offered at minimal or no charge,” says Brad.

Delivering High-Quality Care

Our skilled staff focuses on delivering high-quality care, ensuring every patient receives personalized attention. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Brad’s leadership initiatives emphasize inclusivity and community impact.

Over 74% of patients served in 2023 come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, reflecting our mission to provide equitable healthcare”

Here are a few of the impactful additions Brad’s leadership has made possible.

Inclusive Services

  • Community Outreach: With our Mobile Clinic, we are committed to taking healthcare directly to underserved communities.
  • Strategic Partnerships: We are exploring new markets and collaborations to expand the organization’s reach and enhance patient services.
  • Innovation Hub: By embracing cutting-edge technologies, we hope to improve efficiencies and patient outcomes.
  • Strengthening Relationships: By prioritizing community partnerships, we drive growth and foster innovation.
  • Employee Well-being: Jobsatisfaction and professional development remain a big focus for Brad. “It’s how we can best serve patients – we want everyone committed to the best possible patient outcomes,” he says.

What’s Ahead

“As CEO, I’m excited about the transformative journey ahead,” Brad says. “Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity drives us to continually raise the bar in healthcare delivery, ensuring that every patient receives the compassionate and comprehensive care they deserve.” Brad believes the people of Bluestem Health are the most important part of the organization, adding,

“Our holistic approach to medicine, which asks the best of every individual on our team, is how we have a positive impact on the lives of our patients.”
