We could not be more proud to introduce our Spanish Interpreter and Certified Lactation Counselor, Karina Ruiz-Vargas. Karina has been an integral part of our Bluestem Health team for the last three years and has proven to be an amazing resource for our patients and our community as well. Karina completed her bachelors in Psychology from UNL in 2013. She is President of the Nebraska Association for Translation and Interpreters and is currently our only Spanish interpreter at the Health 360 location. She obtained her lactation certification in 2016 and sits on the board as Vice President of MilkWorks, and she is passionate about breastfeeding education.

In addition to all she does for us at Bluestem Health, Karina is also a devoted mother and wife. She has a six-year-old daughter and one-year-old son. She appreciates that her husband supports her and holds everything together at home so she can make an impact in the community. When she isn’t working, Karina loves nothing more than spending time with her family at the park. She also loves arts and crafts as well as singing and dancing. Though Karina was born in Mexico, then moved with her mother to Los Angeles at two, she calls Lincoln, Nebraska home, having lived here since the sweet young age of six-years-old.

Karina feels grateful to have such a great work environment at Bluestem Health. She feels her Health 360 team is more like family than coworkers, and together they work hard to make a difference each and every day. Our team is great because of incredible employees like Karina.
