Your Mental Health Matters: Compassionate Behavioral Health Care in Lincoln

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as getting a checkup or treating a cold. Our Behavioral Health team is here to help.

Think about the last time you had a really tough week. Financial stress, concerns about a loved one, or feelings you can’t quite explain can weigh on your mental health. Sometimes, those feelings pass. Other times, they linger and begin to affect your sleep, appetite, work, relationships, and the activities you once enjoyed. When life starts to feel overwhelming, you deserve to have someone who will listen, understand, and help you find a way forward. Our Behavioral Health team is here to help.

Mental Health Is Health

We often forget that our minds and our bodies are connected. When you’re stressed or sad for a long time, you might get headaches, feel tired, or struggle to focus. And when you’re dealing with a health problem like diabetes or chronic pain, it can wear on your mood, too. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as getting a checkup or treating a cold. It helps you handle tough days, build stronger relationships, and feel more like yourself. Thanks to our behavioral health services, you don’t have to “tough it out” alone.

Asking for help takes courage, and we often hear from patients who wish they’d talked to a counselor sooner.

How Does Our Team Help?

Behavioral health care focuses on your mental and emotional well-being, helping you understand what you’re experiencing and find healthy ways to manage life’s challenges. Our team provides counseling, therapy, and psychiatric care to help you feel better and move forward. We work with patients experiencing a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • PTSD
  • Anger issues
  • Addiction and substance use
  • Life transitions

Our team of psychologists and licensed mental health practitioners takes the time to listen and understand your experiences. We recognize that what you’ve been through can affect how you feel today, and we’re here to help you move forward with compassion, understanding, and respect.

Care that Works Together

One thing that sets Bluestem Health apart is our integrated approach to healthcare. Your behavioral health therapist and your primary care provider work as a team because, as a team, we understand how mental health is integral to maintaining a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

If your primary care doctor thinks talking to a therapist could help you, they can introduce you to a behavioral health team member during your visit. Instead of handing you a phone number and wishing you luck, our team walks you to the next step. Everyone on your care team gets to see the big picture, so your plan fits your whole life, not just one part of it.

How Do You Get Started?

If you’re not a patient yet, your first step is to schedule a visit with a primary care provider. They’ll talk with you, learn what’s going on, and connect you to the right person on the behavioral health team. If you have questions, you can call the Behavioral Health team at 402-476-1455.

Once you’re connected, here’s what you can expect:

What About Cost?

When you’re considering mental health care, worrying about how to pay for it shouldn’t add to your stress. We accept Medicaid and offer a sliding fee discount program for qualifying patients. Because every situation is different, it’s smart to ask our Outreach team how this applies to you when you call.

Signs It Might Be Time to Reach Out

Not sure if what you’re feeling is “bad enough” to talk to someone? Here’s a good rule of thumb: you don’t have to wait for a crisis. You might want to reach out if you notice:

  • Feeling sad, anxious, or worried most days
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping way too much
  • Pulling away from friends and family
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Using alcohol or other substances to cope
  • Feeling stuck after a loss or a big change

If any of these sound familiar, you’re not alone, and help is out there. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or thinking about self-harm, call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) right away, or call 911.

You Deserve Support

Feeling better often starts with one small step, like making a phone call or telling your doctor how you’ve really been doing. Our Behavioral Health team is ready to walk with you, one step at a time, right here in Lincoln.

Ready to take that first step? Contact Bluestem Health today and ask how to get connected with the Behavioral Health team at (402) 476-1455.
