Trishia Frost, APRN-NP

Trishia Frost, APRN, Nurse Practitioner, loves taking care of people. She has spent the past 24 years working in healthcare, with 16 of those years as a Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Trishia went on to earn her Masters in Nursing with board certification in Family Practice from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Bio

As a former nurse, Trishia has taken the nurturing and educational skills that nursing provides and married them with her knowledge and experience as a Nurse Practitioner. She loves everything about family medicine, from infants to the elderly, and the wide range of conditions and illnesses. No two days are alike. “I love the interaction I have with my patients,” Trishia said.” The sense of knowing you are helping someone make their life better. It’s very rewarding.”

Trishia sees a number of patients with complicated health issues, especially some of her elderly patients that have multiple conditions. She spends time coordinating their care with specialists in Lincoln. They come together as a team so that the patient has the best quality of life. “We are fortunate to work in the Lincoln community which has a network of specialists that work well with primary care providers” Trishia added. “I have patients with multiple disease processes and some days it is hard to put it all together. It’s rewarding to help my patients live a better life.”

One of her greatest challenges as a provider Trishia feels is making sure her patients get the care they need. When an insurance plan doesn’t cover a diagnostic test, procedure, or medication she orders, many times the patient will choose not to do it. She understands and works to provide patients with the best care she can. Trishia has seen over the past 14 years the refugee population in Lincoln grow while insurance costs and deductibles have continued to rise. She appreciates the programs and resources that Bluestem Health has in place to manage care for patients who need it most.

Trishia grew up in Fremont, Nebraska. She married her high school sweetheart and they have twin sons. She is very proud of their accomplishments and excitement to work in the healthcare field. In her time away from work, Trishia loves spending time with her family. They love to travel, especially to Disney World, and go on golfing trips. She’s active in her church and is a member of the Nebraska Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

“Utilization of preventative care is the beginning of a healthy life,” Trishia says to her patients.
